The
Reverend Romeo R. Velasco
The Reverend Romeo R. Velasco (Pastor Romy) and his wife
Nieves came to Grace United Methodist Church from the
California-Nevada Conference. Pastor Romy entered the
ministry in 1970 and has been a pastor of the United
Methodist Church for 39 years. Pastor Romy has served God
with joy, energy, talents and skills, passion and commitment
to sharing the gospel of our Lord and master Jesus Christ.
His services as a pastor include areas of the Philippines,
Ohio, California and Virginia.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of
Pangasinan and Philippine Christian University and Bachelor
of Theology at Union Theological Seminary, Philippines in
1976. He was ordained Deacon in 1976 and Elder in Full
Connection in 1977. After several appointments in the
Philippines he moved to Ohio where, in 1991, he earned a
Master of Divinity at United Theological Seminary in Dayton.
He served several appointments in west-ern Ohio. He moved to
the California-Nevada Conference in 2000 and was appointed
to several churches in Northern California. The Velascos
moved to Virginia in July 2007 after being appointed to
serve Grace UMC in the Eastern Shore District.
Pastor Romy and Nieves are family oriented and proud
of their three grown children: Romini, 33, with a seven year
old son; Alodia, 30, with a six month old son; and Omega, 29,
with a two year old son.
Pastor Romy has a deep passion for congregational growth.
His goal for Grace United Methodist Church is to serve the
people, love the people and bring people closer to the Lord.
Pastor Romy is a U.S. citizen and is a member of the
Freemasonry USA (F&AM), A Royal Arc Mason and a Knight
Templar (New England Lodge, Columbus, Ohio).
Pastor Romy prays to God that love and support of the people
and the community of Grace United Methodist Church in
Parksley will foster an exciting, vibrant ministry where
people are all in one accord, serving and sharing the joy
and the love of the Lord.
