The first Methodist Protestant Church in Parksley was built in 1892 where Grace United Methodist Church stands today. On October 30, 1909, this little church burned.

On June 11, 1911, the second Grace Methodist Church of Parksley opened. Mr. Andrew Carnegie had his secretary contact the church on March 11, 1911, with a proposal the church could not resist. If they would raise half of $1,250 for a pipe organ, Mr. Carnegie would pay the second half. The church took him up on his offer and, thus, became the first church on the Eastern Shore of Virginia to enjoy a pipe organ.

In 1974, the outer brick walls of our church had deteriorated so badly that it was found to be irreparable. After much worry and stress, the decision was made to tear it down and start anew.

The first service in our third church was held on December 12, 1976.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Jeremiah 6: 16
